Allied Strength Athlete Mia Cromwell Sets School Track Record

Allied Strength athlete Mia Cromwell set a new school record for Manchester-Essex High School in the 1000 meter at the Division 5 Meet this past Wednesday at the Reggie Lewis Center. Mia came in second overall with a time of 3:03.97 to earn a spot at the All State Meet on February 23.

Congratulations to Mia for making it in the Manchester-Essex High School record books for not one, but two sports in the 2018-2019 school year (the other being the first ever CAL Championship for Girls Varsity Soccer).

Easy and Effective Sports Nutrition Strategies for Performance and Recovery Presentation

Thanks for taking the time to check out this 35-minute sports nutrition seminar. It will be incredibly valuable for athletes, parents and coaches. In it I cover the three most critical aspects of sports nutrition:

  1. Hydration
  2. Quick and Effective Breakfast Options
  3. Pre Event/Game/Practice Meals and Snacks

Without proper nutrition, athletes will see a drop-off in performance (especially at the end of games and throughout the season) and recovery (their ability to fully recover before the next practice or game). If you would like to follow along with the lecture, I have attached the PDF of the slides for download. If you have any questions or would like to get in contact with me, please do so here.

Allied Strength Athlete Jade Cromwell Named Fall Sport All-Star by Gloucester Times

Jade doing push ups with a 10-lb weight vest

The Gloucester Daily Times named Allied Strength Athlete Jade Cromwell one of its Fall Sports All-Stars. Since joining Allied Strength in April 2018 Jade has been a leader inside the gym and out on the field  with her hard work and positive attitude. She, along with her sister Mia and Claire O’Brien, trained throughout the summer to help Manchester-Essex Girls Varsity Soccer have their most successful in the program’s history. Jade is already back in the gym training in preparation for her colligate career.

Here is what the Gloucester Daily Times staff had to say about her:

Jade Cromwell, Manchester Essex soccer: The Hornets had a historic 2018 campaign, winning the CAL title for the first time in program history, and Cromwell was the leader of the team defense which allowed just a goal per game.

A starter on the back line since her freshman season and a three-time CAL All-Star, Cromwell was frequently tasked with defending the opponent’s top scorer, and she frequently shut them down.

Manchester-Essex Girls Varsity Soccer Finish as Cape Ann League Champs and State Division Finalists

It was an historic season for Manchester-Essex Girls Varsity Soccer. They finished the year with the program’s first ever Cape Ann League Championship and as Division State Finalists. Also Head Coach Luke Cosgrove was awarded Coach of the Year honors.

Congratulations to Allied Strength athletes Claire O’Brien (Senior), Jade Cromwell (Senior), Mia Cromwell (Junior) and the rest of the team on their incredible season!

Allied Strength’s Sports Performance Program is Unmatched in Cape Ann

At Allied Strength we have athletes that travel from up to 20-minutes away (Manchester, Essex, Ipswich, Lynnfield, Hamilton-Wenham, and locally in Gloucester) to make sure they are getting the best possible training experience and results for their sport. From middle/high school to the collegiate level, our sports performance program is built to help athletes reach, and then surpass their perceived athletic potential.

The Cornerstones of the Allied Strength Sports Performance Program

  1. Reduce the Risk of Injury: With the increase trend of sport related injury in youth athletes (NCAA Research) it is imperative that we do everything possible to assure our athletes have a long and healthy career. The prime pillar and perhaps the greatest benefit of the Allied Strength Sports Performance program is reduced risk of injury during competition. The increase in overall strength and endurance will help prepare athletes for the rigors of competition to compete at a high level throughout their season and the playoffs.
  2. Maximize Performance: The Allied Strength Sports Performance Program is designed to help athletes get faster, stronger and to compete at the highest levels of their sport. From youth to collegiate athletics, the competition is getting tougher. A safe and effective strength and conditioning program is becoming more standard and in some cases a requirement for one’s sport.  Beginning at the warm up, to speed training, power development, plyometric training, strength training and conditioning, athletes at Allied Strength are being prepared to perform at their best no matter their current level of competition.
  3. Provide the Optimal Environment for Athlete Growth: The Allied Strength Sports Performance program is built to support athletes of all abilities and from Age 10 and up. This includes teenagers that currently do not play a sport and want to be a part of a fitness program. No matter how fast, strong or skilled, all Allied Strength athletes are teammates. Great teammates support and encourage each other to work hard and get better every single session. This includes a zero-tolerance policy for name calling or athletes putting other athletes down.

Breakdown of Each Session

Allied Strength Sports Performance training sessions are 80-minutes long and are constructed to help athletes take their performance to the next level. We do this by improving movement quality, increasing speed, power, explosiveness and strength, all while reducing the risk of injury. Each session begins with an Active Warm Up to improve movement and tissue quality, improve agility, and power output. The active warm up is followed by Strength Training, utilizing full body movements to maximize results and minimize training risk. Each session finishes with high intensity conditioning to increase cardiovascular and muscular endurance. We do this by utilizing our Assault Air Bikes, weight sleds, as well as slide boards for lateral movement conditioning.

Our program also has considerations and modifications for overhead (baseball/softball/swimming) and other specialty athletes.

Group Sizes and Scheduling:

Each group is capped at 7 Athletes to provide attentive coaching/feedback and optimal group flow.  While it is not guaranteed, if an athlete is unable to make a scheduled group time, we will do our best to have them make up the session at a different time and/or day.

Our athletes at Allied Strength will be driven to not just be great athletes, but to be excellent leaders and teammates.

Allied Strength Sports Performance program has three core principles:

  • Do No Harm: Far too often strength and conditioning programs lack great environment, logical programming structure and attentive coaching. Not only is The Allied Strength Sports Performance program built on the most effective and proven methodologies in the industry, we also strive to provide the best possible environment for our athletes to thrive. Every drill, exercise and movement chosen is weighed to maximize effectiveness and minimize risk.
  • Reduce the Risk of Sport Injury: The prime pillar and perhaps the greatest benefit of the Allied Strength Sports Performance program is reduced risk of injury during competition. Far too often young athletes are experiencing non-contact injuries during practice and competition. The increase in overall strength and endurance will help prepare athletes for the rigors of competition.
  • Provide the Optimal Environment for Athlete Growth: The Allied Strength Sports Performance program is built to support athletes of all ages and abilities. No matter how fast, strong or skilled, all Allied Strength athletes are teammates. Great teammates support and encourage each other to work hard and get better every single session. This includes a zero-tolerance policy for name calling or athletes putting other athletes down.

The Sports Performance training sessions are 80-minutes long. We offer our sports performance memberships with a standard 2x/week membership, billed every other week. You can sign up for either Monday/Wednesday sessions or Tuesday/Thursday Sessions. We also have a 3x/week sports performance membership which also has classes on Friday. This is a great option for athletes that are in their off-season.
